Arguing

I have never been participating in any professional debate competition till now, but there is one person who keeps disagreeing with my thoughts and shouting them out loud lately. He also always looks happy and starts laughing every time he sees me getting emotional during our debates. Darn youuuu….
Warning, all of our arguments I write here were based on our own thoughts. We have no professional knowledge of the issues. Apologize if the thoughts weren’t accurate.
Here are some of our debate topics,
1.   Blackberry versus iPhone
He is an iPhone user and I am a blackberry user. As far as I know (and I didn’t do any research before writing this) blackberry is a smart phone and it is used to make work easier. It is the first gadget using push email as its feature. Its segment is middle to high working class workers. He started insulting me by saying like “really?? Are you kidding me?” He said blackberry is a gadget for alay. It proved by nowadays many alays using them everywhere. He also said, here in Indonesia you can find blackberry everywhere, and that made it lost its exclusiveness. He said even parkingman (without any intention to degrade this choice of career) in Indonesia using blackberry. He didn’t just refer me to one of the alays, he also underestimated my gadget. Hey, iPhone ain’t that good either. You can find in Wikipedia that apple iPhone is the 4th most popular device manufacturer in the world, while blackberry is the 5th. If he said he can find blackberry everywhere, then the more he can find iPhone everywhere. He said blackberry is for alay? I told him some alay Hollywood tv series and what gadget the casts use (I phone of course). Both of us are now using old generation of those gadgets. I suggest, instead of debating, we could save our energies for buying new ones, rite?? Hahahaha….

2.   Doctors versus Engineers
I stupidly started this debate by pitying new doctors in our country. I said they have to study for 6 years more or less just to be general doctors (is this phrase rite?). Then they usually do PTT for the next one or two years depends on the location. When they are finally hired (in hospitals, clinics, or others) their first salaries are around several hundred to 1-2 million Rupiah. Engineers on the other hand are quite luckier. They normally graduate after 4 years and can immediately work after that. Their salaries are usually higher, around more than 5 million Rupiah as first graduates. He said doctors, once they are famous and have loyal patients, get much more money than engineers. I indeed agree, but how long shall they try until they are famous? Usually every year medical faculties accept a hundred or two new med students. Are they all ending up being famous and getting a lot of patients? I don’t think so. He said not all newly graduates engineers get paid more than 5 million Rupiah. That depends on which company they are in, and what job they are responsible. We talked about this when we had stuck on traffic. We didn’t even agree on something hours later when we finally arrived home. hahahahaha….

3.   Balikpapan, a good or a lame city ?
I was born in Balikpapan and I lived there until I finished my high school. My daddy, mommy and little sister still live in there right now. He lived in Balikpapan for 3 months when he did his on job training in one of Oil Company there. Our perspectives are exactly different. And I don’t know what happened to him while he lived there, but his impression of the city is not nice. He once told me his uncle texting and asked him when he will hang out in there. He -laughing- said like what a joke his uncle question was. He said Balikpapan doesn’t have any cool place to hang out so what’s the point of going there? Funnyyyy….

Hey dude, i forgot how many times we have argued, but I remember exactly we have done it a lot!! Even though they were all absurd, I have enjoyed them all very much. I’m totally not afraid of having them more in the future. Bring it, hahahahaha…

Rony's Birthday

It was Rony’s birthday when we went Paintball-ing (my company’s event) in Patriot Paintball, Alam Sutera, Tangerang. At first, I was thinking to buy him a cake the day before. But hey, where to put it? I don’t have a fridge! Ok, I’ll consider to buy one, later…When I already have a house, maybe thousand years from now, hoho…Yes I’m being sarcastic. You know what, doing house searching is really frustrating. Not only because my money is very limited (to be honest, it’s not even my money. My generous company lends me some so that I can buy a house) but also I am a terrible perfectionist house searcher. This perfectionist thingy exactly doesn’t match with the limited money condition I’ve got. Tell you later about my tiring house searching experience. Let’s go back to the cake.
I then thought to buy the cake after we finish our paintball tournament (yes, we are all athletes, and that was a competition ;p). We planned to go to Jhon-Dumex’s wedding first after paintball (if you found those smelly guests in the wedding, they weren’t us ;p) then go having dinner, treated by (of course) the birthday boy (or man?). As I realized later, some things were going according to plan (alhamdulillah), but in random order. Yeah…
I woke up late. The traffic was my best friend that day (or because it was weekend?) and gladly I came early to the office. The committee provided bus to go to Alam Sutera and they also provided breakfast meals. Thank you guys for all your efforts and made me comfortably seated inside the bus, eating my breakfast, you were so nice. On the next moment, I knew I left my purse at home, oh well… That means I drove with no driving license (don’t try this yourself) and I had to find someone to borrow some money to buy the cake.
The paintball tournament was very fun. Even though I lost (2 times) and got shot (2 times), I enjoyed the event so much. Yeah, I know I’m not some kind of muscle lady with weapon, I’m more like a princess in the castle, hahahahaha. My married colleagues brought their families and I was moved every time I saw them took care of their kids. In the office, they acted like little boys playing around with their friends and toys (by saying toys I mean maps and logs -____-) but that day I saw them as responsible fathers. Good job guys J
There were lotteries (door prizes) during the event and I won 200k Carrefour voucher. The birthday boy won 21 inches flat screen tv, which he sold by the end of that day, hahaha….
The bus sent us back to the office and shortly after we arrived, Rony told us he left his jacket (wallet, motorcycle key and cell phone included) in Patriot Paintball. The committee went back to Alam Sutera and we had to wait one or two hours before Rony got his jacket back. I borrowed money from Pipin and went to Jesselyn Cakes near the office to buy the cake (initially I wanted to buy the cake in Harvest, since I had no driving license at the moment, I chose the closest cake store, Jesselyn Cakes). With 50k Rupiah I had to buy the smallest cake, candles, and lighter (the lighters that Grand Lucky sells cover with football club logo, but there was no Real Madrid (his fave) so I chose to buy the Inter Milan one (his previous fave club). Rony basically supports any club as long as their coach is Jose Mourinho, weird ;p
After two hours waiting, with small cake in my bag and Rony’s jacket had returned, we –Rony, Pipin, and I– went to Holycow Steak. Why holycow? Because they treat customers who having birthday with free wagyu, that’s why. The first word –free– already attracted him, the second word –wagyu– made it surer ;p. That was his first wagyu and he said he would ever eat it again only if someone paid it for him or maybe in his next birthday, hahaha…. Somehow I agree with him, wagyu is expensive and my village tongue cannot even distinguish its taste with common beef steak ;p
While we were talking (if I’m not mistaken, it was about his dark yet impressive past), I took out the cake from my bag, lighted the candle and sang him happy birthday together with Pipin. He smiled J, made a wish then blew the candle. I’m glad seeing my friend’s happy, and I saw him happy that night (I wish I'm not wrong). Yippiee, my plan went well JJJ
In Holycow rules, the birthday person has to wear a birthday headband to get free wagyu. So here he is, with the headband and the small cake. Can’t you guys see his sacrifice to get free stuff? Hahahaha…..

Pssstt....He doesn't allow me to put this picture anywhere. So, please don't tell him. You see and you forget, rite??? ritee????
We missed out Jhon-Dumex’s wedding that day. We are really sorry, we wish you two having a happily marriage and surrounding with beautiful kids J

Our Watching Movies Experience

I love watching movies. Before Sunrise and Before Sunset are two of the many beautiful movies I have watched. The setting was in Europe (Before Sunrise was in Vienna and Before Sunset was in Paris). Chemistry between the two main protagonists was so real. I did not feel like watching movie. I felt like peeping two people while they were talking and flirting to each other all day and night long. Jeux D’enfants (English title: Love Me If You Dare) is also one of my favorite. It is a story of two best friends and their favorites dare game. In times, they realized they love each other but unfortunately they were in love with the game more. It was a very cute movie at the beginning, getting cruel in the middle and ended with a beautiful tragedy. Not all of my favorites come from Hollywood or European. I like some Asian movies too. One is crossing my head in this moment, Ghajini. It is an Indian movie about someone who everything he had has been taken away from him. He had lost his beloved fiancĂ©e, his full memory and the worst, his happiness. He lived with short term memory loss, anger, sadness and great feeling to take revenges. Warning: please prepare tissues before watching it. The movies that I usually categorized as my favorites were not only mesmerizing my eyes but also melting my heart in the same time.
Haekal loves watching movies. He adores Christopher Nolan (a movie director) and all his magnificent arts. He had lent me Memento once and I needed to watch it twice before finishing it (I fell asleep on the first attempt). This movie is the original version of Ghajini. It is also a story about someone with short term memory loss. The story went flat but the ending was genius. No romance was involved in this movie, except the main protagonist reason for his revenge, his wife was killed. Haekal is also dazzled by Inception.  A confusing science fiction movie ;p. Inception is a story about a dream (or nightmare?) in a dream, dreams stealing, and getting trap into a deepest dream called limbo. Haekal adores Nolan, but his most favorite movies of all time are The Matrix trilogy by The Wachowskis. I watched the first movie more than a decade ago and already forgot it by now, but he said the directors are geniuses. Do not ask me why. I do not know, and I do not want to know, hahaha…
Haekal and I love movies, but our favorite genres are different. I do not watch The Matrix full series so I cannot give a comment about them. But I have watched Memento, and I say Ghajini is more suitable for my taste. He does not want to watch Ghajini. He said Indian movies are out of his league. He said there are too many dramas, too many dances, and too many unnecessary expressions. I disagree. There so many good movies from India nowadays, and because he is trapped in his prejudice, he missed out some very good ones. I even thought, if only he could more open minded, he would have different experience from watching non-Hollywood movies. But then I realize I was wrong. I cannot push anyone to agree with my opinion. I cannot push him to watch anything that I want. He is free to watch anything he wants as well as he is free to choose not to watch some particular movies he does not want. I am the one who should more open minded. Gratefully, I am now, a little ;p.
Ps: even though our favorite genres are different, we often went to see movies together. I like some of them, he likes some others, but sometime we were lucky watching movies we both like (usually comedy or movies with high IMDb’s score).
These are covers of the movies i have mentioned in this post.
