Dear Love,
I remembered the first time we met. It was my first day in university and you were my senior. You were so shy and not prominent. You seemed didn’t care with us –the freshmen– while other seniors looked so eager to bully us. But my eyes were already to you.
I remembered I often asked my friends to say hello to you from me. But your only answer was your smile. I was not so easy giving up my chance to get close to you, then I started sending you my daily wishes, written on a little piece of paper and secretly put it between your book pages, every day. Did you read those papers, love? I meant every wish I wrote there and hoped God would reply my wishes and gave them all to you.
I remembered I tried hard enough to know details about you. You lived in an orphanage since you were a kid. You don’t have real sibling but all people you lived with mean more than a family to you. From your friends I knew how smart you were. You could sleep all day while your friends studied hard, but still got good grades. I knew your love for soccer. I saw your eyes smiling greatly every time you were on the field. I was your secret admirer, love, and I am still, though not so secretly.
I remembered and I am still, thinking about you every day. You were so close yet so far. The feeling I kept were killing me. Then, I decided to let you know. In inauguration night I –with help from my friends– kidnapped you to a backyard when our other friends were busy singing around the bonfire. I screamed to you out loud “I’m deeply in love with you!!!”. You kept quiet. There was a long silent and I waited in front of you awkwardly. I felt tears were about to come out from my eyes but I tried so hard to hold it. Love, I tortured myself for having this deep feeling for you and you tortured me more with your silent. Then you said “I’m the one who deeply in love with you first, Jena”. And I burst into tears.
I remembered you said you liked me since the first day you saw me. Not in my first day in university, way before that. You first saw me when I bought an application form to register to this university, and you immediately wished me to be accepted there. God answered your wish, love. You said you didn’t have courage to be my boy friend because you didn’t have confidence to be with someone very extraordinary like me. You also said my family was known well and you didn’t even know your parents. I convinced you, you were perfect to me. And I didn’t need any addition to make my perfect man perfect.
I remembered I was blushing when you showed me your collection. A box full of my wishes notes. You said that box filled with the most special thing that any person ever gave to you. You said you re-read all those notes every time you missed me, and you did it every day. Yet, you were too shy to tell me your feeling.
I remembered how we became so close ever since. Every day I learned more about you and my love for you are not getting any less. You were so wise, so tough yet so fragile. I know how much you missed your parents and really hoped to find their cemeteries. Yes, you hoped your parents had rather died than still alive and left you to orphanage. You told me about your beloved brothers and sisters in there and how you couldn’t thank them enough for entering and balancing your life.
I remembered the day I lost you. As usual every weekend I visited your house and helped you teaching your younger brothers and sisters. Yes, love, those kids are awesome and I like them directly after I met them. I stuck in a very bad traffic that day. When I came there, the situation was chaotic. Fire had burnt your house. I see the kids were crying and I asked them where you were. The little one told me you tried to bring out one of them and never come back.
Love, I knew you love your family. I knew you might love them more than you love me. I just never thought you had to prove it. Why you left me without even saying goodbye? Why our time together was so short? I wasn’t ready to lose you, I thought I never will…
Love, you knew me more than I do. You knew exactly I could handle this. You knew I have wonderful family to help me get through this. Sometimes when I miss you, I picture yourself with your parents that you missed so much, living a happy life there. No more misery and pain like you had here before. I promise you love, I will continue my life happily. I will get married to someone I love, have beautiful kids and wonderful family as we once planned for ourselves before. I have mourned long enough and I know you don’t want me to be like this. I have to face reality and continue my life. I love you, good bye.
Love,
Jena
